Since first competing on the World Championship level back in 1987, he has won three first place World titles, and has consistently placed in the top five standing every year the competition is held (the worlds are held every other year).
In addition to competing in prestigious competitions, Curtis has also mesmerized crowds all over the World. His largest demonstration occurring at the AeroPageant in Japan, with well over 30,000 spectators. Other demonstrations have been performed at the Tournament of Champions, held in Las Vegas; Sandown, in England; and all over the U.S. at numerous fun-flys and small gatherings.

After graduating high school, Curtis began his studies at the University of Texas at Austin in 1987. There he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with his emphasis of study in component and systems design. Upon graduation, he began working as an engineering consultant for several companies around the World in the R/C industry.
